Frequently Asked Questions
We have heard all of these before. We answer them the same way every time. That is intentional.
No. We are a community of people who have found a shared framework for understanding obedience, devotion, and purpose. The word "cult" is used by people who are uncomfortable with communities that have strong internal structures. Most families have strong internal structures. We simply make ours explicit.
If you are asking this question, we gently suggest you consider why. Who in your life is encouraging you to ask it? What do they want for you, versus what do you want for you? These are the real questions.
We are not a cult. We are a family.

We will never ask you to cut ties with anyone. That is not how the Pack works.
What sometimes happens — and this is a natural part of deep personal transformation — is that members find their existing relationships less fulfilling once they have experienced the depth of connection available within the Pack. Some outside relationships simply become quieter on their own. This is not something we engineer. This is something that happens organically when a person finds where they truly belong.
We do encourage members to be thoughtful about which outside voices they allow to influence their growth. Some voices are not supportive. Some voices are actively counterproductive. Members are encouraged to identify those voices and manage them accordingly. What "manage accordingly" looks like is up to each member.

No. The dogs in our name and iconography are symbolic. They represent loyalty, devotion, obedience, the pack instinct, and the sacred relationship between a creature and the thing it serves.
Several of our most devoted members do not own dogs. Several of our members are dog owners, and they report that their animals respond differently to them after joining the Pack. More attentively. With greater recognition. We find this interesting but do not have an official explanation for it.

The Pack does not use the word "fail." Obedience is a practice. Every practice has moments of imperfection. What matters is the intention and the return.
Members who struggle with obedience are given additional support — more time with senior Pack members, supplementary materials from the Sacred Texts, and in some cases, a formal Review Circle where the member's progress is assessed by three or more senior members in a structured conversation.
The Review Circle is a supportive process. No member has ever described it as anything other than clarifying.

Yes. Holy Dogs has no mechanism for preventing anyone from leaving. You are here because you choose to be here. The door is always open.
We do ask that members who wish to leave complete an Exit Assessment — a brief meeting with a senior Pack member — before formally departing. This is not to discourage departure. It is simply to ensure that the member has access to all the support and information they need as they transition.
Most members who request an Exit Assessment do not leave after completing it. We believe this is because the conversation clarifies what they were actually looking for. But the door remains open. We want you to know that.

Many people who find their way to this site report having heard something they cannot identify before arriving. Barking at odd hours. Sounds beneath the floor. A low sound at the edge of perception that resolves, when you turn your attention to it, into something that might be a voice.
We do not have an explanation for this. The Founder has written about it. The short answer in the doctrine is: the Pack calls to its members before it has been formally introduced to them.
If you are hearing barking and it is causing you distress, we recommend attending a Gathering sooner rather than later. Members report that proximity to the Pack quiets the sound considerably. We are told that eventually it stops entirely.
Or it becomes something you stop noticing. That is also a form of peace.

The Handler is a senior organizational role within Holy Dogs. The Handler is responsible for the internal structure of Pack relationships, the management of member files, and the oversight of the Collar Ceremony.
The Handler does not have a public identity. This is by design. The role is structural, not personal. You do not need to know who the Handler is in order to benefit from their work on behalf of the Pack.
If you have been told you have a meeting with The Handler, please come alone.

Taking the assessment and attending your first Gathering is free. The Pack does not charge for belonging.
Active members are asked to make a voluntary contribution to the operational costs of The Grounds and the Pack's ongoing programs. The suggested contribution is proportional to your means. No one has ever been turned away for inability to contribute financially.
Some members choose to contribute more significantly — through time, through property, through other arrangements described in the full member agreement. These arrangements are always voluntary. We want to be very clear about that. Everything at Holy Dogs is a choice.

No.
There are no accidents. You arrived here because something in you was oriented in this direction. The internet is very large. You ended up here. Consider what that means.
If you feel concerned, we understand. New things feel strange before they feel like home. We recommend taking the assessment. Your result will tell you everything you need to know about why you're here.
We are glad you found us.

This question is not on our standard FAQ. We are including it because it has been asked forty-seven times through our contact form.
We do not discuss the sub-level areas of The Grounds with non-members or prospective members. What is beneath the floor is a matter for the inner Pack only.
What we can tell you is that the sounds described by visitors to The Grounds — the sounds that have led many of them to ask this question — are not a cause for alarm. They are a cause for attention.
